Satyameva Jayate is a mantra from the ancient Indian scripture Mundaka Upanishad. Upon independence of India, it was adopted as the national motto. It is inscribed in the script at the base of the national emblem.

Only the first stanza was adopted in Rabindranath Tagore's 'Jana Gana Mana' which is the national anthem of India. The song basically consists of five verses, of which only the first stanza was adopted as the national anthem.
